Any ideas out there for what would be the proper split bench seat to put back in a 59 El Camino. What years and models to include in the search. Thinking about returning the car to stock upholstery and would like to have the aftermarket repro covers fit without any issues. Would like to use the Impala trims if possible.

Find one out of a Chevrolet or Pontiac two door sedan. 1959-1960. They are around still in recyclers inventories. I just saw a '58'59 Chevy - GMC pickup single seat in good condition. It is split though.

  3. If you're recovering it you could cheat and use a bench out of a mid-80s GM midsize or full size car, it would look close enough although you'd have to have the covers done up custom to make sure they fit.

I think Chevy just used a regular 2-door bench with folding backs in these, same as other 2-door body styles.
