I got my split wishbone mounting plates from Speedway today. They came with four mounting holes drilled in each.

My frame is boxed and I'm wondering if I can drill through both sides and bolt these on with some (grade 8 I would think) bolts or, since there are no "anti-crush tubes" for the bolts to pass through, should I weld the plates on.

I don't want this stuff busting loose going down the road.

Stupid question #472 for me. [IMG]

    Thanks, JH

drill the holes big enough for your "anti crush tubes" to pass through and weld them in,

    then bolt the plates on.

  4. That's what I would do.... [IMG]

I would chamfer the ends of the tubes so, once welded, I could grind the welds flush...especially on the side where the plate bolts on.

All of the above. The BEST way to do it. I usually don't go nuts with the grinder when cleaning the ends of the tubes after welding. If you do any grinding at all leave a small amount of weld just grind it flat and parallel to the frame surface.
