Conveted my 36 axle to an A style spring and split the bones on the weekend, I had bought a set of these weld in bungs 3/4 RH thread and installed them but have yet to weld them in. I later took my newly converted axle out to a friends so that it could meet the chassis and he told me the bungs would not work with the 3/4 ford tie rod ends. WTF... I know it was just posted but what is the moog p# for the ford rod ends and do I need diffrent bungs? Thank You...
Thanks thirtytwo. I have a set of new 11/16 ends and was going to buy bungs to use them but they didn't have any so I went with the 3/4... I do not want to use heim joints or four bar style ends...
Cheaper to get the standard Ford size bungs if you have the ends already. I got the bungs both directions, one right and one left, no particular reason, shouldn't have to. I also looked toward standardization, there would only need to be one type (two, a right and left) spare end on the shelf for replacement. They weren't hard pieces, I used neverseez brand lubricant on the threads so they wouldn't get wiped out on the first replacement.
The 3/4" tie rod ends are for trucks. And are preferred for wishbone ends. You can get them at Chassis Engineering, West Branch, Iowa. Speedway carries weld bungs in 5/8 - 11/16" lft and rt - 3/4". You can also get 3/4" rod ends (3/4-16 threads) that take polyurethane bushings. These available at many places.
