In the process of back tracking damn near everything we seem to do on our coupe project, we found that for the throttle arm to clear the lower edge of the firewall, we had to really adjust our angle down. While it works smoothly, we had to adjust it so much that now the spoon is way up in the air.

Being that everything on this car has been done**** backwards, the pedal****embly was chromed ages ago. Obviously we don't want to bend the arm on the engine side of the firewall as it will jack up the chrome and we all know, that***** ain't cheap.

So my question is, can the spoon arm be pulled of the cross shaft, repositioned and repressed back on? I haven't had a chance to pull everything back off and look at it on the bench yet. I didn't know it it had a spot or hammer weld or if it might be tapered.

Here's a couple pics that don't really show too much but thought I'd throw them up. Hard to tell the angles and clearances. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1440392861.439859.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1440392881.182379.jpg

My spoon from Pete and Jakes comes apart on both sides and can be clocked into any position. Guess it depends on which one you have?

Well*****, forgot to put that little nugget of information in the original post (dumb****). The pedal is a 35 Ford truck unit. Gotta stop posting when I'm already in bed and half asleep. These things just come to me.

IIRC, If it's an original Ford part, I think it's pinned on the end

I ground the end of the shaft off as it was welded. Then removed the pedal and cross drilled it for a roll pin at the right angle. Over time though the roll pin has worn a groove so will need to look at welding the end again.

The reason I needed to do it was for my model A but now it is in my 32 it was on the wrong angle so have to change it back. As I had already cross drilled it at the Model A angle, to re drill would weaken the shaft.

    Hope this makes sense

It wouldnt be any big deal if it wasn't already chromed. Otherwise I'd just tweak the throttle arm end. I'll need to pulled it off the car this week and get it on the bench where I can give it the stink eye.

  8. It all depends on where the pedal hit the floor at WOT.

There's a pedal ratio involved in the gas pedal too.

You might be able to just get a longer rod between the pedal and the carb

Is re-chroming it going to break the bank?

  10. Replace the link to the carb's to suit the pedal travel.

It's kind of hard to tell in the first pic but the cross shaft tube is mounted on the angled section above the toeboard. The throttle rod was hitting the "corner". I had to angle the rod down to keep it from hitting at WOT. If I could have mounted it on the firewall itself there wouldn't be an issue but the spoon would have been way too high to be comfortable.

And yes, at this point rechrome would break the bank. We're in the home stretch with the build which means the banks been busted, replenished and busted again about 3 times now.

Cut it in the middle, drill and tap for a stud, put a lock nut on the side that will tighten when you hit the gas. Or something like that.
