I was looking to buy a spot welder to finish the floor in my model A. Can anyone recommend one that will do 14 gauge max.?
Resistance spot welder? I have a 220 HF unit. Don't know about 14 ga. 16 to 18 is the thickest I've done so far. I know everyone loves to hate HF but I just weld bonded inner and outer rockers with it, and it kicked ass. Not too deep of throat but where you can reach it works nice.
I have one too. Love it. Never tried 14 gauge though. Also, just make ew arms for it for whatever reach you need.
I bought a used Miller, it has been flawless. I've welded 14 ga to 18 ga. Grainger sells a wide assortment of arms, not cheap of course. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/MILLER-ELECTRIC-Air-Cooled-Tongs-5A346?Pid=search To use the big/deep tongs, you need a quality set of jaws or you won't get proper alignment.
