Washed my Avatar yesterday and used Eagle One tire and wheel cleaner on them. Now have spots that look like water spots. I’ve got one side cleaned up pretty well but I was using a cleaner for aluminum that was like a rubbing compound and the wheels don’t have the same shine they had.

Ive read that a mixture of white vinegar and water would remove water spots. I don’t think it water spots because I rinsed with spot free water. Gonna give the vinegar mix a try but wondering what else people recommend. We are at our Winter place in AZ so I don't have my Semichrome polish which could also be the solution.

I’d never use a tire and wheel cleaner on expensive rims. You never know what chemicals are in it.
Try. Mothers mag and wheel cleaner.
I wouldn’t use vinegar. It’s corrosive and has 2% acid in it

Hand polishing is not only arduous but the results are not as good as a high speed buffer. I like Flitz balls on an air drill and their aluminum polish. They sell a variety of balls, cones and wheels so you can get in there and make em shiny.

  4. If you didn't have any issues after washing and only after using the Eagle One product did the "spots" show up, double-check the directions to see if the fault was in your technique or in the product itself.
For any type of alloy wheels, I like to first hand dry and then wipe on a film of Gibbs Brand just on the wheels. I most often don't hand buff it dry but wait a day or so to see if I need to wipe off any excess.
I use a separate product for the tires, again by applying it to a pad and wiping it on. I never spray either on the tires or wheels. That's just causing more clean-up because of no control of where it goes.

One key to using those wheel and tire cleaners like that is do one wheel at a time, rinse well and dry before doing the next. You don't squirt all four, run around and scrub and then go around and rinse or you end up with issues. That is my personal experience from thinking I was going to get it done quick.

Some aluminum wheels have a clear coat on them that the wheel cleaner eats up too.
