Rocky, Another vote for BBQ black. I also get it at Ace Hardware. I usually blast the headers and if they are used I take a torch and go over them (especially the joints at flanges and collector)to burn out any residual oil then blast them again. Apply the paint in thin coats and allow to dry. Hang them up so you can blow hot air from the torch up the collector from a distance away (to keep the heat from concentrating one spot). Allow them to cool and install them. Fire up the engine a couple of times for a couple of minutes allowing them to cool in between. I also try to use cotton gloves when I'm handling them and when I'm installing them to keep oil off the surface. First drive is usually a gentle one so that you don't get that WOT heat concentrating around the bends. Touchup is by spraying the paint on a detail brush so you don't get overspray on anything else. I think handling them without gloves after blasting is most important for good paint adhesion. Frank
