What is a good spry gun for etching primer? I don't want some overseas crap that won't work, but I honestly have no idea what to look for or what to expect to pay. Your opinions are appreciated.

I know you don't want any overseas crap but the Harbor Freight gun is a decent gun for primers. It's all I use. I have even painted with it, if I am doing more than one color. It works fine. Make sure to buy the HVLP.

Or if you wanna buy German, buy a SATA.

Kinda like what Root said, my $40 tent sale special works great for primer.

The Matco folks market a really decent gravity gun for about $80. Excellent "utility" gun, and I've painted top coats as well. Remember, it's not the gun but the shooter.

The HF HVLP gun can't be beat for the price...and the performance is better than alot of other guns I've used. I have sprayed a shitload of gelcoat through the Purple HF gun and it's never let me down. Not everything that comes from overseas is junk and not everything that's reasonably priced is junk either.

Kinda funny you said that. I bought a Sharpe HVLP titanium T1 gun a few years ago thinking it would be a real nice gun for base-clear finish work...
    Hahahahahaha....what a piece of shit!
nothing but problems with it for shooting finish paint..

but, the tips big enough to shoot high build primer from, so thats what i use it for..primer..

Tuck 'schooled' me on Iwata gun's.......now THATS a gun for finish work!
on to the topic at hand :)

I also have one of those HVLP guns like what HF sells..
it's like the energizer bunny of paint guns..
I've forgot paint in the damn thing, scrapped it out, cleaned it and it still works perfect!!!
