Projects spray on, rinse off rust remover????

I'd put it on thick and leave it on overnight. when it dried I'd brush more on. Then s****e it with a putty knife next day. Took a couple tries. I think 8oz of navel jelly gel was the same price as 32oz of rustoleum gel. Messed around with citric acid and towels before, which worked ok but made a huge mess.

 

Oh and saran wrap over the top kept the stuff from running and drying out.

 

more from the storage shelf.... klean strip premium stripper... had two cans on the shelf. sprayed it on the area where the tail lights go... with in 2 min.. all the paint bubbled and lifted..wirh a rag I wiped the paint off,... it left the red primer.... so, sprayed pro ez off on it 2 min later I pressure wash'd it to bare metal...

so I think,... thats what I need,...it got pulled and the stuff the changed to doesn't work....oh well

 

i went to harbor freight and bought one.... here my take..... worthless.... too heavy, gets the metal too hot. oil cans the big side panels, hood and trunk... never got to the roof...4 hours ant got half the quarter panel done... the wheel they have is a big clean strip ugly wheel , may be I'm doing something wrong, cause it sure struggles to remove the paint,... maybe toofast or too slow???? i tried every speed

 

The problem is not the product, but your application methodology. It has to be submerged or have continuous flow via a pump - (that's why I mentioned a Home Depot pond pump, in my post above). You cannot let it dry, or it's a fail. the stuff literally works wonders.

 

agreed, but I don't have anything to put the 58 in but our pool...but like said, i was looking for a spray on rinse off rust remover.... but I did get it done... and it's painted black simi gloss now... and pretty safe bet that I will never do that again...

 

mine didn't cut the paint.. it melted it...

 

I've heard about this stuff. Haven't had a need to try it yet but I definitely will if/when the time comes. This looks like a really good result.

still have some more on the roof to do, but the rest is seal'd up... also my new tires and wheels are getting dropped off tonight...

 

I followed up with this stuff on the bare metal with steel wool. Good price and I think Home Depot carries it. Good stuff if you don't get to spraying primer right away. Never had any surface rust form.

 

Be careful if you are doing this on a car that has thinner sheet metal (like a 60's muscle car). The generated heat can warp panels.

That be a dream to have a product you spray on and leave you with bare clean metal..like the spray on tire shine stuff
I have always sandblasted my projects…5 bags to do the sedan delivery,,inside, outside and underneath…I recover the sand continuously until its dust..sandblasting done in a portable garage with poly on the floor
I dont want to have to sandblast my current and likely final project…but i like a really clean base

 

I'd say if you had good luck blasting I'd stick with that. Probably quicker and less messy.
