yeah, I like it. It's DuPont Chromabase-Bright Atlantic Blue-Pearl/Metallic. I was looking for another color I had see before, and that one jumped out at me, so I got him to mix it up. Sprayed 6 coats of it, Dying to get to the clear now. Wetsanded down the roof again too so I'm gonna put more clear on it when I do the rest of the car. I'm not looking forward to all the wetsanding and buffing.....err...

Nice shade, not too far off from the 1960 Buick Chalet Blue.

yeah, everyone thought it came out really good for my first real paint job, no runs or sags, just a little bit of orange peel and some trash in the clear where a spider decided to build it's home while I was out of the shop in between basing it and spraying the clear. Heres a pic of our paint booth setup, this thing is bitchin' with the attached mixing booth, temperature control. You spray it, hit the bake button, and pull the car out 45 minutes later.

Ya know...I'm impressed beyond words here! [IMG]

You took what I thought was a pretty homely body style and turned it into a whole new machine with some deft paint work! I can't wait to see what it looks like all put back together and on the road!

The silver flaked roof MAKES it...sets off that stunning blue perfectly...and almost makes you forget it's an oddball more-door!

Seriously...kudos to ya! It takes a special talent to see the hidden beauty in some cars and then be able to skillfully extract it...it's partly artistic intuition, a dash of creativity and heaps of raw talent!

Some may say "It's just a cool paint job on an old wreck", but I think it deserves a standing ovation!

    Well Done!!!

Thanks for the kind words, it is pretty cool when I think about how the guy I got it from was gonna run it in a demo-derby...and now it's shaping up to be a car that no one would think of putting in such a thing. If it had been a more-door post car though, it'd be smashed right now hahaha. Hopefully by the end of the week, I'll have gotten my wheel covers, trim clips, and mirror so I'll have everything together After I put on the spraycan chrome bumpers (they're probaly going to look fucking awful on the car, but chrome costs too damn much.)

I take my previous comment back. It's much darker. Still looks very nice.

And just for the official record, 59-60 GM 4dr HT's are COOL! If I was on my work computer I'd post a couple pics of some flattops. Betcha you'd change your mind.

    So nyah! [IMG]

Looks good for a first paint job...my first didn't come out near that good! What about spraying the bumpers with the silver flake? I think that would look better than rattlecan chrome...

no time to do the bumpers flake, thought about it but it's too late now. everything has to be out of the shop by thursday (end of the semester) and the bumpers are already "chromed" and on the car as of today, was gonna get better pics but my batteries died. How could you like the before pics better? The thing was a turd, been hit in the back, the passenger side tailights well rolled under and that side of the trunk was flat instead of coming out to the point. I'm pissed at myself for not taking a closer pic of that area. As soon as I get my speedo workin' right, along with the gas gauge I'll be on the road (and a mystery cooling problem that occured today). There will be better pics hopefully this weekend.

Don't sweat it...you can always re-do the bumpers later!

You still came a LONG way in a short amount of time and you've got a cool ride to show for it! [IMG]

Damn thats a huge body and looks like you got her straight to! Lots of werk i dare say!

Cant wait to see some side on shots so we can all play with flame/scallop schemes in photoshop...

Does it feel weird to see her painted? When i painted mine i couldnt get used to it for ages...cos after 6 years in primer i kinda missed the primer..im over it now...! [IMG]

    Cheers
