Just wondering if anyone here knows the laws about spraying paint in ND. Our neighbors hate us because we're young and have hot rods ( not to mention she probably hasn't been laid for years). All it would take is for her to call our landlord/cops/etc and we'd be shut down. so if anyone here knows where I could get info, please let me know. Thanks Oz
Step up to the line, make friends with her, lay her, and get her to let you use her garage for painting. As for the law, forget it, you don't want to know.
Get ahold of Neil Krueger. I think he works for Wallwork Body Shop now. He was the president of the ND Auto body assn. I'm sure he can fill you in. I have a feeling you will need a paint booth If you are talking about the shop. Or call Bob Langlie or Todd Richter at Luther Collision and Glass. Tell him I gave you their name.
12 and dropping. Did you say you are young? You are a statistical anomalie. We are all as amused as you to get this kind of question from ND. Still something to love about this country.
I'm suprised they have laws for much about cars in ND since they still allow killing native americans.
Fuck the law. Do what you gotta do without creating a disturbance (don't blow the fumes at yer neighbors, don't be workin at midnight). The way to deal with laws and ordinances is NOT TO LOOK THEM UP!!. Work "stupid". It's not a crime to be stupid about laws like that. Cut the old hag's grass for her. Shovel her snow. If ya gotta do her, leave the car unpainted!! I think you get my meaning. The reality is laws relating to things like this are all about liability. If the township or community let's you do something they are liable so they write shit to cover their asses. In my case here in MI, I needed a spray booth for my restoration work. Not wanting to drop 6 figures on a new one or take chances with a used one, I decided to build my own. I only painted like 6 cars a year tops, and most of those in pieces. I went to the library and looked up all the BOCA codes for spray rooms (as they were listed). Since I called it a "spraying and detailing room" I got away with my version as follows... Fire resistant 5/8 drywall over fire resistant lumber, drywall both sides. The cieling was 2X10 fire resistant joists and an upper deck of 3/4 fire res plywood, inside more drywall. I only had to build 2 walls, one entry and one side. It was 20 X 25. I used explosion proof flourescent lighting (8 units). The door was a sectional garage door mounted backwards and rolled up in to the shop area. Metal garage door with holes cut for filters and air make up. The exhaust was an explosion proof motor from an old gas pump with a fan attached and a local heating and cooling firm whiped up a bonnet for it. More filters. The exhaust pushed thru a flapper door. heat came from the shop air. Total cost and blessed by the city, $5500. It offered sturdy overhead storage for all the parts from project cars. I don't know your whole situation, but just lettin ya know, any thing can be done if you really need it. Good luck and I hope this was helpful.
