  6. We are looking into hiring an artist to make a new model of the spread V8 girl with bigger cans and longer hair . We are thinking we would cast them in a limited quantity of about 150. Many people say they would be interested if the price was reasonable, what do you fee would be reasonable price? That would centainly give us some idea of what we could spend in production costs. Thanks Kelly

Your column drop "lady" started out life as a boot jack. I believe they were called "naughty nellie". My mom was an antique dealer when I was a kid.

Larger breasts, longer hair, HEELS! Women are ALWAYS sexier in heels ....

  10. Crafty B offers this at $149.00. http://www.crafty-b.com/products/otherstuff.php

Different from what you're wanting to do but along relatively the same lines. To sell enough to recoup your investment I'd think you'd have to keep the price less than $150. The guy that will run a reproduction of a woman with her legs spread open on the nose of his car isn't usually the guy with pockets deep enough to have anything he wants.

$100-$150 is kinda steep for a reproduction or new hood ornament. I want one of Crafty-B's just to sit on the shelf but can't swing it right now.

I'd be interested in a V-8 lady if you did one that was reasonable ($150 or less).

(Also, add me to the list of people voting for longer hair, heels, & bigger boobs.)

  11. Yep, Boot Jack Nellie....

I have no room to talk or critize but i will say Nellie would have to go on a serious diet to make it on the front of one of my cars...

  12. WOW DO YOU THINK ALL THE PEOPLE THAT LIKE THIS V8 LADY ARE DIRT BALLS? Do you understand these were originaly cast in the 50s and are a very sought after part? Originals are now selling for 600-800 dollars and people are buying them, still stand by your statement?

I would have to say that if you are doing a limited production run you should find out the tooling and casting costs first. As well as what kind of metal and quality you want them to be. Then decide how many you will be running and set your price point. My guess is that for a small run of 150 a price range of $200-$300 will not be out of the question.

And watever the cost put me down for one.

  15. 6-8 years ago we offered the guy $500 for the one on his 32 he laughed at us and said he had it on his 32 since the 50s. Claimed he had an accident and he and his brother spent two days looking in the woods and ditches just to recover it . Said they were very rare and his was not for sale at anyprice!! Made me want one all these years. P.S. I never saw the high heel thing coming but me likey!

I have several cars that I would like one for-- count me in for 6 if you move ahead and cast them . With the amout of polishing I would think that 150.00 would be a tuff # to hit with only 150 pieces. your model and mould costs are going to run 3500.00+
ruff castings got to be worth 50.00 each that gives you less than 75.00 each to polish and plate. no room for any profit .I would be willing to pay up to 300.00each if the quality is there and heels are a must if you do this. Please keep us posted.

If we could get some more shots, and some dimensions, I'm sure someone could make one of these out of clay to be investment cast or something... Hell, I haven't laid hand to clay since high school, but could probably pull it off reasonably close with more pictures & measurements...

  20. We are getting closer to a new version of this vintage part daily, as requested we are adding bigger boobs, longer hair and high heels!!!

My only other thought would be to sell them for a little higher price to keep from having every thug-mobile sportin one. Or just make a few to keep them sort-of rare.

I'm in for one and it would be cool non-plated also. Just semi-polished aluminum and the buyer can finish to their liking. You know, just polish every now and again. Steven.

Only problem I can see with high heels, they will break easily.

We'll just have to be very carefull with them. Now that I think about, as delicate as real high heels are, I've never broken my wife's no matter how "rough" it got!

Ok, rephrase that last transmission. I meant my wife has never broken any no matter how rough it got.

Nah, not dirt balls, but immature, disrepective and definitely out of touch. Would your wife, your sister, your mom or your grandmother enjoy riding in your car with such an ornament? What's that display say about how you think about women as individuals?

Sure it's a great casting, it's a fantastic piece of 50's art, I have no problems with naked ladies and I am sure there'll be a market. But I'm in a euqal partnership for life and I'd rather have my wife in the passenger seat that a naked lady on the hood. I could also be all wrong. Maybe we can hear from some of the ladies of the HAMB?
