Nah, not dirt balls, but immature, disrepective and definitely out of touch. Would your wife, your sister, your mom or your grandmother enjoy riding in your car with such an ornament? What's that display say about how you think about women as individuals?

Sure it's a great casting, it's a fantastic piece of 50's art, I have no problems with naked ladies and I am sure there'll be a market. But I'm in a equal partnership for life and I'd rather have my wife in the passenger seat that a naked lady on the hood. I could also be all wrong. Maybe we can hear from some of the ladies of the HAMB?

i think anyone who would "boycott" riding in my car because of a hood ornament to be more immature, than the one who put it on the car in the first place..

my wife and daughter are not that immature to feel this is some type of "female" attack..and my mom was brought up in the 50's and would probably recognise it and wonder how the heck i got it.

not all women are insecure..and not all women feel that the natural beatuty of a woman needs to be hidden from view.My wife is so confident, she shows me other women, and asks for my opinion.

    dude..its just art..not a sexist thing

stop trying to be PC and enjoy life a little..waaaay to serious to live a short life..go back and look at all those art deco hood ornimants..this isnt the first female form, and shouldnt be the last..

theres always gotta be one in the crowd..

No, it certainly won't be the end of civilization, I think that's already happened, and I agree it's art. But I do think it's a sexist thing. And I do try to be "politically correct". I've got three daughters and one grand-daughter and I am protective as hell about them.

Display it all you want- as long as you tell me it's okay to cast the "Ken" version -guy with his legs spread, gentals exposed, maybe wearing a hardhat? Would you run that one, too?

Seriously, it's fine-just stirring the pot a bit. If your wives and daughters think it's cool that's okay with me. I just think a lot of them would prefer to be thought of as more than just "bigger boobs and high heels".

they are..they are thought of as more..because they are more..

that my friend is not..it is not human..and it is just a hood ornament..and they are mature enough to see and know this.

they are smart enough not to be threatned by it..or mistake it for something it was not ment to be

immature and insecure women play that game, and are looking for any guy that will accept the blame.

If I could mount a sturdy enough 8 on my grille shell I would just have my wife ride up there. More room in the coupe! On a serious note, anyone married to a woman and committed to life with her, should be able to display this as art on a car. My wife would have no problem with this. Hell, my wife keeps my Playboy subscription up that she got me the first year we were hitched. Going on 16 years now, I think she knows I won't run off with the hood ornament. Steven.

  9. Plated part are far less detailed than some peoples imagination. I don't think I ever mentioned anything about genitals and can asure you this item will be far from obscene. WOW just think these were originally built in the 50s the book burners and commie hunters must have had a field day!!

  10. Let me dumb it down a little so maybe you will understand.

A collector who wants one of these wants an original. When an original is only $600-$800 (it's all relative), why would he want a reproduction at half the price? If he is a true collector and appreciates how rare these are, a reproduction is worthless - especially at half the cost of an original.

Change the design & those collectors & restorers won't pay a premium for a brand new hood ornament that isn't even a reproduction.

The guys who DON'T care that it is a reproduction or that it is a brand new design aren't the same guys that are looking for an original. And I stand by my statement... IMHO, the guys that don't care that they are brand new aren't going to want one at much more than $150.

I think the original is gorgeous. I also think a new design with heels, longer hair, & bigger boobs could be super. There seems to be some interest here above the $150 mark but I'm out beyond that & I believe most people would be too.

Price it higher than $150 & I think you'll have a hard time making your $$$ back.

If it came with a 6 insted of an 8 I would buy one, and then I'd buy one with an 8 too... I'd say $150-$200 is a decent price $150 for the 8, and $200 for a 6, just because less people are runnin' sixes... But if you made a six it would find it's way on top a '28 Poncho grille shell that I have kickin' around here..

Wow man, who appointed you to defend the women of the human race? Like they need defending. A strong woman would not be bothered by an inanimate object. Art is Art, if it comes in the form of a beautiful ornament that is classic then so be it. You think All those women, wives, girlfriends and daughters that like to dress up "pin up Style" walking around carshows or the local get together, posing by cars are bothered by something like this? They are just normal women having fun. Quit being such a whiner. If a lady has a problem it is her perogative and she can look the other way. I thought this was a thread about a cool ornamental car part. Not a feminist rally.

  20. Agree completely. Some things are just tasteless. Having said that, we live in a free country and folks have every right to display anything & everything whenever and wherever they choose. One man's ceiling is another man's floor. That doesn't mean that a lot of folks won't find this "art as hood ornament" tasteless and crude.

Ok i see where i may have left my comment open for that.... I stand by that Art is Art. You may not like it or you may love it thats the way it goes with art. I will not be hanging testicles from my rear bumper lol, but if someone wants to do that im not the person to say they cant. as phrased before you can turn your head and ignore it, or you can make fun of it out loud. But to argue that it may be offensive is goofy. Someone is trying to get a reaction with ornaments and such. Good or bad, offended or not, it's attention. And you will remember that car. some folks like it that way

Tasteless... maybe. But I don't see anyone boycotting those trucker mud flaps...

It is a chrome hot chick sculpture... I probably wouldn't put it on my car, but it would be a great conversation piece in the garage!

    People need to lighten up.

Stan, no one appointed me anything. It's your car, put whatever you want on it. My point is that a significant number of people will find it inappropriate or insulting. The fact that you choose to ignore their opinions or feelings is your own business, but that doesn't mean those other folks are wrong or don't exist.

You may also feel that having a little black jockey at the end of your driveway, or maybe a little concrete Mexican dude with a donkey in your yard is fine, too. And it's your yard. My point is only that some people might find these things offensive. It is still your yard.

Sex has always been a part of hotrods and a part of the general automobile culture. And I'm all for it! Bottom line-you think the ornament is cool and okay. I think it's cool and not okay. We are not going to agree, so let's just say we have different ideas and let it go.

  25. So I should take those down then?

  26. This thread has gone from hood ornaments to a sexuality pissing match, Mods please close this waste of bandwidth.

Yeah, I can see how some would think Ms. Spreader Bar Lady is offensive. But for me, it is in the same vein of pin-up art, bomber nose art, lucky 8 girl, etc (which some surely think are offensive too). I really don't mind it.

Its pretty bad when a guy comes on here trying to do something nice for the group..(as i see it there are more takers than those crying about it) and it turns into a feminist rant from dudes that dont even know what it is to be a woman.

for those who dont care for this ..start your own dam thread!

the interested ones out weigh the non interested ones..
I hope if this thread does get locked, That Kellys Hot Rod Parts keeps those of us who dont have these issues a heads up when the time comes
