Well, considering it really doesn't start until admitting the public tomorrow ,things will get better. See you Friday in the sunshine.
Tom, I was there on Tuesday also. About 95 % of the vendors were not ready for business. I met a guy that was cleaning out his father's speed shop that closed in the 1970's. He had some good stuff, and a lot of miscellaneous un-interesting stuff. I couldn't go today because of dialysis, but I will go tomorrow after a 10:00 AM doctor's appointment. I wish that I could get there earlier, but you take doctor's appointments when you can get them. Friday is another dialysis day, so no go. I look at it this way, if I am meant to find something, I will find it, if not, that is how it is.
I am in II29 - stop by and say hey! I had a decent day today but we are looking forward to hopefully have heavy traffic tomorrow!
Thursday: Great weather. Nice crowd, but not too crowded. Sales seemed brisk. Friday should be warmer yet, and probably more spectators. Yeah, swap meets are alive and well as long as they are well managed. EPay, is gasping.
Tom, I stopped and visited with you on Thursday. We know a lot of people in common. It was a good visit.
I was there Wednesday and Thursday. I found it to be busy both days. Vendors and customers. I’ve not been since 97. Had a great time.ymmv. Snowman ⛄️
Spent wednesday there. Perfect weather, 75%of the vendors on hand. I thought the early ford stuff was very thin. Lots of signage, lots of sbc parts. I walked 8hrs with a pocket full of cash, and only found a couple things i could use. I might not be the average user, but i spent the whole afternoon wondering why some of it was there at all.
Great day in the warm sunshine and I had my Must Get list done in half an hour. The crowd was huge. Best of all, buying the entrance and parking passes online A)-saved me $5, B)-got us parking within 150' of the gate and C)- let us walk by the 200 odd people waiting at line to get tickets and walk right in through the gate. That gave us an extra hour, stress-free inside before it got hot.
Just got home this afternoon. Got in two good days Wed & Thurs. Bought some good hubcaps and wheel covers and misc. Some good buys to be had, and some guys must just bring their stuff just to display according to their asking prices, but you always have that! My 39th year, don't know how many more I have in me, a few I hope!!
I've never figured out how some guys with $1 tarps full of pure junk make it pay against the vendor fees, but I suspect they're not there for selling just want to be around.
Friday was crazy! Got there at 9:00 (2 1/2 hour drive to get there) and the National GUard Armory parking lot was FULL! Waited around 30 min. on line to get in the gate! Haven't seen it this crowded in 20+ years.
It’s interesting to attend the event, then see pictures ( or YouTube videos) that remind you of something you saw. The young couple selling all these patch panels had 2-3 spaces full of ‘30’s to ‘40’s parts/ all reasonably priced. These folks are becoming Carlisle regulars, and Camp out with their little daughter and her pet pig, Priscilla. They are great to visit with and easy to deal with. Check them out in the North field just where the flat land melds into the big hill.
