Yeah, you'll walk your **** off......so wear comfortable shoes Maybe a garbage bag(redneck poncho) for Friday if it rains. A light tote bag is handy for small stuff, too. I carry a pad and pen and write down the space number where I buy bigger stuff, then we troll around in the truck picking stuff up(and buying more) when the gates open for pick-ups. See you guys there....or maybe not(I shop hard)
Yes, and he also usually leaves stuff @ my spots across from the HAMB village He even buys stuff from me every now and then.
O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oh, otta site - where'd you get that satellite? HAMBers @ the yellow push pin and across the pavement [/quote]
We'll be down Friday (leaving Thursday night, damn cl***), HOPEFULLY I can find a '40 rear end to get my quickchange together, I'll have to stop by and say hey to you guys down there!
Minewithnoshine I've got a complete '40 rearend if you need one. I'll be at Charlotte Thurs. for a little while picking up some Cokers for the '50 coupe, and then back on Friday for the day, my shops about 30 minutes from the speedway or I can probably bring it with me if your interested. Needed, clutch pedal ***embly for early Falcon.
I will try to find you guys, I have a space on the track to park I think it is on the number 2 turn. I look forward meeting some of you guys in person! I arrive on Thursday about 10:00 and leave Feriday when it closes. See ya then!
It would be cool to meet some of you guys. I think I may go friday & saturday. What time does it close on Friday? It may not be worth it if it closes at like 5.
Not looking good for me being there for over a day or so. My wife has been in the hospital since yesterday AM, and was supposed to have minor surgery today. It was put off until tomorrow, if then. We'll see. I do have some parts bought and paid for that are being delivered there so I must go at least to pick up those parts.
Looks like I will be making the trip to the Lowes Motor Speedway & swimming hole on friday after all,,, The weather forcast is for rain,,,but that is normal for the spring swap meet! HRP
Didn't make it in until 8:15pm tonite. Looks like cloudy with PM isolated TS tomorrow. I'll try to get all of my shopping done before the rain hits. We'll wait and see about Sat. If it calls for rain all day, I'm going on home.
woooo what a good time. We survived the tornado watch and manage to stay dry under the easy up. Great FOOD and good times from the hambed village! I sold a ton of stuff amd got some good parts!!
Here's a shot of the Village of the HAMBed. This was one of the few minutes that it wasn't raining on us all weekend and as you can tell it was a bit chilly.
Lets see now, cold and rainny on Thursday, Rain and not so cold Friday turning into thunder storm and Tarnado Watch Friday evening, Rain Saturday. Our spaces were about 6 inches deep in mud. We got to feeling so guilty about having so much fun and our wifes home along that we left early to go be with them. Here's a shot of an old drag racer Dirty Doug found, nobody wanted it without an engine.
Man, I was right by the village and didn't realize it. I made my son look at the 'patina' on the Ford truck. He saw it first. I was in a hurry all day Friday picking up parts that I had delivered and looking for other stuff. Guess when I noticed the banner? When I was loading up to leave about 4:30. Because of the forecast of rain, we decided just to come on home this morning. Well, maybe next year.
Gotta give a HUGE thanks to the guys in the HAMB village, especially Vic, Krusty40 and Tudor I think it was (I get bad with nsmaes) for letting us store our finds there while we were out hunting. Vic even let us throw all of our parts in his truck and drove us to his car after the day Friday, we had a TON of stuff. We had some good times hanging out there, meeting ******Knuckles and some other HAMBers, awesome time guys. Looking forward to future events! Again THANKS!!!
Nice meeting you guys too. You guys were sure toting some nice stuff. Hope you saved some money for new shoes!!! See you fellas in the fall!
Hey, it was the least I could do, seeing as how you bought half that stuff from me! Thanks! It was nice meeting you Cinci kids; I feel better about the future of traditional rodding now. Mine with: buy some decent shoes! Despite the ****py weather, it was good to hang out with all the folks @ the Village of the HAMBed. See y'all in the fall. vic
returned last night from Charlotte all I can say is WOW what a great time we drove down from Indy 620 mile in a friends 46 Buick and had planned on staying for the show on Saturday but the weather man didn't sound to promising , and as we blew a tire at 2 am Thursday morn in Ky we came on home Sat. morn hopeing if we had any problems it would be in daylight, but we'll be back next year for the whole thing, Any one take in pics?
That's his version of the weekend . My version is slightly different. I ran outa' #30 sun shade so I wouldn't sunburn and had to stay under my 10x20 EZ-UP . Sales were pretty good. Got rid of a bunch of stuff. Could've sold my T-5 5-speed, but I got greedy. NVRA #84 made us some outstanding culinary delights. Here's a partial sample of the menu: Shepherds Pie: This is a camp style meal consisting of several layers starting with a layer of browned ground beef with onions. Then a layer of corn, green Beans and creamed mushroom. Then it is top off with Mashed Potatoes covered with cheese and baked in a Dutch oven. <O Dessert: <OBanana Cake Breakfast: <OMountain Man Breakfast C***erole <O A Mixture of several sausages, bacon, and cheeses layered throughout Hash Brown potatoes and then baked with a topping of egg batter and coated with cheese. Served with Biscuits. <O Lunch: Hot Dogs, Hot Dog Chili and Cold cuts are available. <ODinner: Low Country Broil: This Coastal South Carolina, known as, Frogmore Stew is a delight. If you dont know whats in it by now, dont ask just sit back and enjoy. <O Dessert: Peach-cherry Cobbler: A delicious mixture of Peach slices and Cherries baked with a battered crust mixture on top. Breakfast: Sausage, Gravy and Biscuits: This is a southern staple, no need to explain. But to explain for those of you unfortunate enough not to be from the south; This is skillet fried Breakfast sausage, fried and crumbled then smothered in a Sawmill Gravy and served over flathead (jumbo) biscuits. <O Lunch: Hot Dogs, Hot Dog Chili and Cold cuts are available. Now, how 'bout that for roughing it?????!!!!!!!!! All participants in NVRA #84's menu were last seen signing up for a Jenny Craig weight loss program . My total purchase at the swap was an almost new Army Surplus Extreme Cold Weather Down Filled Sleeping Bag for $45. After Thursday night I decided it would be a good investment for future Charlotte spring meets. One of the highlights was Friday nights storm and watching TUDOR hang from the metal frame of his EZ-UP during a thunderstorm . With nothing but bad weather in the forecast, we pulled the plug on all the fun Saturday afternoon. As the Old Milwaukee Beer commercial used to say, "It doesn't get any better than this!!!"
One of the highlights was Friday nights storm and watching TUDOR hang from the metal frame of his EZ-UP during a thunderstorm . I more enjoyed you standing next to me telling me how dangerous it was for me to hang from the tent. REMEMBER I was holding on to it so it didn't blow away! I really don't think it would have mattered much if I were hanging on the thing or not if lightining had struck the easy up we were all standing under. Yes the menu was amazing! Fried Pickles and Jalepenos!! WOO HOO
Let's see if we hadn't left early Saturday you guys would of had three more meals. This is what I had Planned. Saturday Lunch would have been Chicken Nachos; a layer of Tortilla Chips covered with grilled chicken, sauteed onions and melted Mexican chesse sauce. Dinner plans were a Camp Stew; Using a Chuck Roast to provide cubed meat along with onions, celery, carrots, potatoes, corn and beans slow cooked until the meat almost falls apart. Dessert would have been an Apple ****e Dump Cake (a lot like Cobbler). Breakfast for Sunday was a couple dozen eggs scrambled with cheese, 2 lbs of bacon and a bunch of cathead biscuits. Here's a Picture of the camp kitchen before all the action got started. I will say it's kind of tricky cooking outside with all the nasty liquid weather, but we do desperatley need the rain around this area.
I was right by you guys too! I did not see the sign. I did see the truck but missed you guys. I did get some cool deals at the show!
Village of the HAMBed is at the same spot Spring and Fall. Modifieddriver is our slumlord and he is always on spot BBB 005
