How did you overcome the spring width difference?

  2. Moving the crossmember forward isn't exactly a strait forward deal. You don't have enough flat section in the rails. The crossmember will tilt as it enters the frame horn section. Not Good!

I used a Model AA unit. Big Truck

  5. Yes
You need a custom main leaf and sprring over spring perches. Most people cut the spring in front stuff off the bones to clean them up.

I have two choices i am going to pick from, either 1. I get the custom leaf and perches and go spring over, or 2. I had already planned on extending the frame 6 inches in the rear when i do the rear kick up. I could just make that 12-14" instead and slide the body back. If i do extend and leave spring in front i wont be doing it until i figure out what i need to fit the flatty 8 up front so i can be sure to have plenty of room. Thanks so much for the help guys! I will post pics when its complete and describe what i did in case anyone else wants the info.

  7. Okay, one more time. Check out the space behind the Oil fill tube and that there is a manual Fan with 1" between blades and rad core. The rad is mounted in the stock holes in the AA crossmember. That's how much motor compartment space grew when relocating crossmember to use late front axle and keeping the Stock Model A wheelbase.

Same program will work when I put my Hemi in the hole only not quite as much room behind the Dist.

For the record, I extended my frame when I swept the rear enough for spring in front front end and spring behind rear end. Will be using a drop axle in front, split 39 bones with a 39 spring pack that I may reverse the main eye on. I have a AA front crossmember in the stock location since the 39 spring wouldnt fit in a standard model a front crossmember. Deciding between a 36 and a 37 rear banjo I have but doesnt change anything besides looks. In the end I have more engine space and a stock model a wheelbase. Just curious how hard it will be to fit the lincoln 337 I have in there... from everything I have researched all of this is very traditional and I believe will achieve the look I am after
