anyone know any places that do this in the Los angeles area? Someone told me about a place called hollywood springs, but i think they are out of business.

I just want to try this before buying a new spring, I heard they might settle again after a year or so, but by then I will get a new one.

I am running a 32 heavy axle, suicide perch, model a frame,8BA flatty and my pan is hanging a little bit too low and the spring is almost flat!

I already added spacers under the motor mounts and that helped a little, Im worried about cracking my oil pan if i hit a big dip or something.

I kind of dont want to cut the perch off and start over because it seems to be working ok, but i just need that extra clearance. I cant put a spacer, because the spring is mounted on top of the perch.
I heard you can get up to about 1" more?

    Thanks guys.

  5. Deaver Spring in Santa Ana. The place has been there for ever (late 1800's as i understanfd it) and it's worth the trip just to see all the old belt type machinery, with the belts all over the ceiling. And good work at a fair price!

wouldn't re-arching the spring make it somewhat shorter in length and wreck the shackle angle?

Deaver gets my vote and if you hang around and talk hot rods the price of the work may come down! :D Prices are VERY reasonable to begin with and actually the shop was so cool I'm going to go back and shoot a bunch of pictures one of these days. The shop was built in the late 1800's and has stayed in the family.

    THanks guys! that was quick!

It should be ok on the shackle angle, they look like they have some room to spare and still be at a good angle.

That 1800's one sounds pretty neat. Ill have to check it out next time im out that way.
