Just picked up a 62 Galaxie 500XL for a spring project. I have an opportunity to get a 428 SCJ back from where I sold it 20 years ago and have been looking for something to put it in. Found a decent black on black XL a few weeks back with a 390 and cruise-o. Already found everything I need to convert it to a 4 speed using all OEM parts. I watched the car for a few weeks on FB and was surprised it was still there when I had time to go look. I asked if I could fly in and drive it home but the seller said it would run around town but no long trips as it had been sitting for almost 20 years and he was just getting back on the road. I headed to Denver and figured I would rent a trailer if it all panned out, which it did. Got it home and put about 10 miles on it with no problems so the next day I took of on a 120 mile round trip with no issues. Runs a little fat and mileage isnt the best but its a good running 390 4v motor. This will be a project that gets the little things done one at a time without having the car down for months or years at a time. IMG_1769.JPG IMG_1770.JPG IMG_1771.JPG

Great score! Always thought the formal roofline made these cars look serious.
