This is what my '52 has, a 71 Maverick 8" on the original leaf springs in the original position, with 3" lowering blocks. My '53 runs a '70 Mustang 9" with the spring pads cut off and the old ones off of my stock rearend welded in the correct place. What you have there now is scary, but sounds like you're on your way to getting it straightened out. Those blocks are homemade and I'd be worried about using them if they don't have a locating pin built into them. From the engineering of the shackles, I wouldn't doubt that they don't. If they don't, and if you decide you need blocks for your desired ride height, get a set of factory made lowering blocks. Mine were from Autozone and they were only around $30. Without a locating pin at the top and a hole for the spring locating pin to go into on the bottom, the rearend could shift during a hard acceleration or stop, and I doubt that the guy who did those springs knew how to make a proper lowering block.
Ok fellas !! Welded new leaf spring pads on, Installed new shackles, and installed new bushings. Along with the lowereing blocks the rear of the car is allot better! No more Hokey shackle setup!
I did determine the gear ratio is 2.48. But no on the identification. No tag other than the stamping on the pig. I kinda like the gear ratio now. It took some getting used to. But on the highway at high speed its nice.
