I've seen peolpe bend it up in just a regular pipe bender, bu it leaves a pretty deep indentation on the inside of the bend. Mike
Pack the square tube with dry sand, then use a regular tubing bender. The sand keeps the walls from collapsing.
What size is your tubing? I use 1/2" square tubing a lot ( good compromise between strength, weight and it is still easy enough to bend ) I made a little bender so I can bend it with out kinking it. Let me know if you need a pic of it.
Ok UncleAud, It might take till the weekend to get them posted though... Because I need my G/F to post them for me ( I really need to learn how to do this myself...)
Try ShopOutfitters.com They have dies for their hand bender for 1/2" & 3/4" Sq. Perfect for what you're wanting to do with it. They even go up to 1 1/4". My guess is, you can use 'em in any compact bender. I'm planning to buy some of their equipment soon. JOE
I use the shop outfitters bender for 1/2" tubing. I don't use the special dies just the standard rolls. It helps to smash the inside radius down with a hammer and anvil every once in a while to retain a square shape. The inside wall will collapse inwards to effectively shrink. I like to weld flat bar to the tubing and bend it...makes a nice strong piece that acts as a heat sink for welding. Here is an album of mine with some examples: http://allshops.org/cgi-bin/community/communityalbums.cgi?action=openalbum&albumid=9990093218361 John www.ghiaspecialties.com
