Customs Squeak in my front end

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by chalkboard, Sep 19, 2014.

  1. So I have been trying to find a squeak in the right front of my 62 Chevy Impala.
I took the hub off and the wheel bearing looked pretty bad so I replaced it. Put everything back together and the Fn squeak is still there.

Ends up there is a pretty serious crack in the wheel.
    I've never seen that before.

I have seen that before, do you have radial tires on old original wheels? The wheels that are made for radials are much heavier! Sorry for your problem but GOOD CATCH. Gary

Never heard that one before. So, when radials came out and consumers replaced their bias plies, they also had to buy new rims?o_O Seriously?

    Turn the radio up!

  5. That's a new one on me as well. I once chased around a squeak on an OT '72ish Camaro, turned out to be the trim ring.

  7. Ya, radials on what I think are 70's vintage rallys. No way I'm driving on that wheel. It's going in the scrap pile, possibly the other three as well. Not worth the risk. It first started at 70 mph. I'm glad it didn't totally cut loose then.
