I picked up a nice CE from axle for my model A. Perch bosses are at 35” stock Model A (per the charts I can find online) are 36 1/8”. I need to get on the road asap and am wondering about the possibility of bending/squeezing the wishbone the required 1 1/8”? I’m sure that it could be done with heat (maybe without heat). The question is not really can it be bent or not, the question is will it screw up the alignment or something. I can split it next winter but I need to get it together for the summer. Yes, I know, I post a lot of questions on here and yes, some of my questions may seem stupid to someone more knowledgeable than me but at least I am providing entertainment for you.

All Ford axles 1928-1936 are 36- 1/2" for the spring perch distance.
No you can not just bend the wishbone and make it fit. The distance from the 35" perch holes is shorter to the ball socket. You would have to cut and remove some of the wishbone length so it will fit into the ball socket or move the socket towards the rear of the vehicle.

I've squeezed a couple. After I install the perches I evenly heat the yoke to relieve the pressure. No problems so far. Probably not the best but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Ya Gary, this bein May and all………… I like that idea of using the heat to reduce/eliminate the stress. That’s a great way to do it. I will also look at moving the ball back a bit.

You can make a steel plate to shorten or extend the attachment point of the ball
