I have a section of stainless trim I want to glue on a glove box door. The door is painted with laquer. What should I use? I dont really want to strip the paint in that section- is there anything that will work?

I put the Ford name tags on my PU with clear silicone after painting and they held tight until I sold it 5 years later.

I've got a tube of "Gorilla snot" in my garage that I've had for years. It's a GM trim adhesive that works great, got it at a GM parts counter in the 80's. Off the top of my head I can't remember it's real name or part number though. I'll try to remember to edit this post tonight with the real info.

If the trim is flat on the back then use double-sided tape, it's easy to work with, provides a good bond on any surface, and will not crack and break loose. There's a reason that most late model cars use this tape for emblems, etc., it works like a champ...
