SST 802 Sun Tach to MSD Distrubutor.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HemiDeuce, Apr 13, 2009.

  1. I have had this SST 802 Sun Tach since the 60's, and would like to try it in my Roadster with a 8391 MSD Ready to Run Distributor.
I've contacted the MSD Tech Department for connection help, with no success.

Does anyone know the correct way to connect this Tach.

Here is a scan of the original connection instructions.

    Thanks for your help.

Without a box, trigger to the "-" side of the coil. With a box, trigger to the tach output.

  3. This Tach does not use a box, it is all self contained.

I originally had this Tach connected to a points distributor, and the MSD is a magnetic pick up I believe.

You don't HAVE to use a box, but some choose to. Hookup is still as I described.
