I was gonna buy 42' of stainless tubing (2") from a pipe supply company. They wanted $4.50 a foot...unpolished!! But this week I am installing a boiler at a food processing plant, so I thought they've got to have some scrap stainless around here somewhere. I asked one of the maintenance guys and sure enough he takes me over to the scrap pile, I'm expecting 5'-10' pieces, but when we get there he points over to 3 racks full of stainless pipe and tubing!! "take it all" he's says.......take it all I sure as fuck did!! now I have around 200' of 2" 126' of 2.5" and hell I don't know how many 5'-10' ft pieces I have, I also have 63' of stainless pipe. My work truck was loaded down!!! 'ya figure $4.50 a ft? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
oh yeah....the whole purpose of the 42'ft was to run exhaust for my truck..........ya god damn right I took it all!!!
I'm assuming this is thin wall tubing if you plan to run your exhaust with it... Good score. But what the hell do they use the stainless tubing for in the food plant? Not sure why, but I always figured they used thicker wall stuff...
And as far as your exhaust is concerned, do you have a bender, or are you just gonna use on at work? And I say again: The Lillingtons kick ass.
yeah I'll have to use the bender at the shop next store, which means I'll be right next store to my work, which means I'll have to drive up on the weekend or maybe after work...which means since I'll be next store from my employer they'll probably snake me into working...ya know the situation "well since yer up here do ya mind swinging by this place on yer way home"......now that I think about it does anybody have a tubing bender for sale? You are probably the only one in the dust bowl valley (besides me) that has heard of the lillingtons...right on!!
I'm not sure if this adds to my credibility or takes away from it, but I got turned on to The Lillingtons by a friend from MISSISSIPPI of all places... If you're just gonna use it for exhaust, why not buy yourself a harbor freight tubing bender? You could probably sell off a portion of that scrap to raise the funds for a tubing bender...
