stainless chassis

    Stainless screws in stainless threads can be a BIG nightmare.
    They tend to essentially weld themselves together.
    If you never want to take it apart it works really well though.

    Stainless fasteners are no problem as long as they are p***ivated, any other type of fastener is a guarranteed problem.
    Steel will rot the stainless.
    The thing to watch with stainless bolts is they tend to have a low sheer stress.
    The only feasable alternative to stainless is chromed bolts and then embrittlement can be a problem.

    Stainless is cool ... I also like the look of Nickel ... has a bit of patina and warmth to it. I remember seeing use on a lot of the 60's flat-trackers ...
