I am ready to do the exhaust on the '39. I would like to go stainless mandrel bends and weld it up myself. Cheapest kit I can find is from Stainless Works. It is 2.5" and consists of 4) 4' straights, 4) 45's, 4) 90 degree bends, 4) 180 degree bends. Its 304 stainless and expanded on one end of each section for a slip fit. They want $500.00 plus shipping. Is this way more material than I need to finish the duals even with the rear pan? I have no idea how much to buy and in what shaped pieces if I can get it locally. I would really hate to end up with a pile of "extras" No good muffler shop around here either.
I did that kit for a 58 vette that I put an LT1 in and had a lot of bends left, and bought extra straights. Did an H pipe with it also. You might want to reconsider the slip fit deal if your welding all the joints. My tig starting acting up on that job and I got a spool of 304 wire for my mig and that worked fine. was faster actually. You might want to ask but I don't think they make substitutions on the kit. Good Luck.

i'd do some planning and figure out EXACTLY what is needed and order only that. i don't like the expanded ends for a slip fit on all the joints. i'd get the bends plain , butt them up and tig them. if you need some connection you can take apart use flanges on both sides and bolt together. there are many good suppliers of stainless bends
