I thought I asked before but maybe not, cant find it.

So, does anyone know what the correct moulding clips would be for a 56 mainline tudor sedan? The ones on my car now are nutted on from the inside, but I have no clue if that was stock. I thought there were some that you used the tool to remove them. Using the ones I have with the nut require the back seat being out to remove the side trim, dont care for that if there is another option.

Would there be different sizes for the different pieces? Or same size for all pieces? Mine has 3 pieces, long spear, short spear and the v shaped piece like the customlines

    thanks

Here's one of the best auto fastener companies in the country. http://www.mrgusa.com/

If you've got a sample of what you need, you can match it visually on their website or catalog and then order. Good luck!

I got mine from allensfastners.com for my '54.
If they don't have to exactly match the originals, they have one that will work. I called for advice and they were very helpful and were a lot cheaper than anywhere else I checked.

Thanks for the info guys. I dont know what size I need, having the guy at the shop measure the ones he pulled off. What do yall prefer, it seems there are many different flavors, from plastic to metal, and also the way they attach. I dont know whats best, or if it matters.

I absolutely prefer the stud-backed ones. You can drill holes in anything that's in the way that might keep you from installing the nuts.

One big drawback: if you over-tighten the nuts can easily distort the outer panels!!!! Best to use nyloc nuts, the smallest washers you can and have someone watch the outside panels as you tighten the nuts.

Auveco, Restoration Specialties, Motor City Fasteners, Fastenall.... there's quite a few different suppliers for clips, fasteners, cat-whiskers (fuzzies), rubber seals, etc.

If you have any of them in your local area it's great because you might do like I did and just walked in and said "here, I need..."

The counter gal at MotorCity Fasteners (about 2 miles from my workplace) was great, she had a catalog on the counter and we played match 'em up. They sold only in bulk (by the box, vice by the each) and some weren't cheap. But overall it saved me some time which is often quite valuable.

I got the studded backed for all of mine, but I have the '54 torn down where I can get to the backs to put the nuts on. I have a couple that I just left "unnutted" but they go unnoticed.:)

Ok. Well I may just stick with the ones I have that are studded/nutted then. All could be reached easily except 3 or 4 that were behind the back seat door panels. Its not like I "should" have to remove it often, so not that big of a deal. Also I guess I could use the press in clips just on those 3 or 4 and studded on the rest
