I have a "SBF engine" and am curious to know IF a PCV valve for a Hi-Po 289 would work better on my engine than....just what's on sale at Poop Boyz or where-everrr... Seems I read somewhere that Hi-Po engines with 'snotty-idle...more CR...less vacuum etc'. require a different valve.. All you 'Shivel-lay Fellas' with bumped-up power levels/Vettes...do y'all use Hi-Po PCV valves ? OR.....is it all just a sales gimmick to sell high(er) dollar parts ?!! Thx for sharing from this vast well of knowledge.... 6sally6
A pvc valve is like a $10-20 part regardless of the application. For example Purolator # PV774 for SBC lower vacuum applications.
I used to buy the valve for the higher performance applications. But it's been a while. I did peek in the most recent Standard catalog I have, which is 30 or so years old. They only have listings back to 1970 for Ford PCV valves. so I can't get you the part number you want, sorry.
This is the solution: https://mewagner.com/ Expensive, but worth it. I fought for YEARS trying to find a PCV that worked correctly with the snotty cam in the SBC in my 55. This thing has performed flawlessly since I installed it a couple of years ago. No more oil leaks, no more oil vapor stink in the car., no more idle/transition issues.
