Anyone know a source that reproduces the 58-65? stamped steel script Chevrolet valve covers? I'm wanting a set and have only found Crap on E-Bay etc.

    Thanks,
    Robert

  4. Best source I've found is '58 to '65 Impalas.

  5. Are these covers actually that hard to find that you have to go to repops? I have about 30 sets, they seem to come in trunks of part cars. Or am I missing something here?

I probably saw 20 sets in different conditions yesterday at a local swap meet. Nice ones just aren't that hard to find and there are probably a couple pair out in my shed if a guy dug deep enough.

I agree, there should be litterly millions of them out there. I've got at least a dozen sets floating around here. Chevrolet built almost 100,000,000 small blocks so that makes two hundred million valve covers left the plant.....................gotta be a couple of sets left.

Stagger bolt VCs are plentiful around here, too. Are you looking for a set already done or are you going to media blast & paint them yourself? I have 1 or 2 sets myself.

I found a cherry set just sitting in a car at the junk yard. Thinking Ebay I paid 15 bucks. Took them home, bead blasted, primed and painted them. They were as close to perfect as you will find....I got 25 bucks for them. A waste of time. I think the aluminum ones are stupid but that's just me.

I got 1 set of script VC's full of rocker arms and push rods, when i bought 2 sets of heads off craigslist.
cleaned em up and going to run them on my 53 chevy's engine

  13. Repo's at $399:eek:, powdercoated BFD. There are plenty of nice originals around for cheap.

I don't remember ever buying a set, and one engine I bought came with a pair. I ended up with three sets, sold them, and have two more sets out there.

I think they're like 409 intakes--throw two in a corner, come back in a week, and you'll have three.

I agree, way to much money for repros. My three sources for old car parts have "Crushed Out" >=(. Last set I had was 15yrs ago and were Give-me's. I didn't think they'd be that hard to find either, I guess I need better friends. =D

So, the actual question should be "Does anyone know of any Old Junkyards within 150mi of Tulsa, Ok?"

    Anybody....Anybody....Bueller?
