Stan Bowman - Eldora Race April 21,2012

I wrote a magazine article in Northern Kentucky Heritage Magazine on a driver named Stan Bowman. He won the first USAC Sprint Car main event held at Eldora Speedway on April 22,1962. On April 21,2012 Eldora will honor this event (50th annniversary) at a USAC Sprint car race at Eldora. After his initial win and other good showings Stan was selected by Clint Brawner to drive the Dean Van Lines Special Champ car at Langhorne in July 1962. However Stan lost his life as a result of injuries he received at Terre Haute at a USAC Sprint car event in June 1962 about 8 weeks after his win at Eldora.
