Im building a 1932 Ford roadster with a glass body. The body came with no steel infrastructure so I am adding 1” sq tubing throughout the body. I know I need some steel across the bottom of the dash to support the steering column but do I add steel where the windshield stanchions will be mounted? The glass body is pretty robust in this area. Do I just add a steel plate or large washers to the stanchions bolts? Thank you.

    Tim,
My glass body was built by "Rod Action" in Canada, they sold their molds to Speedway ... I think? There are plates glassed onto the body, inside, where the stanchion bolts go through. They are about 2" square and slightly bent to follow the curve of the cowl at that location. That was for the stock '32 windshield, I am now using a DuVall style on my roadster. (avatar). The plates look to be 1/8" thick.

Thank you. I’ll check the area with a magnet, I know aluminum won’t be detected
