I would have giving you the nickle. It would have been a cool story.

I wish that I could have heard it run....They said that it sounds healthy!!

  4. I can respect that. I took a vow of car show abstinence a few years ago. It was to encourage me to have a running, driving car to go to a car show in. ESPECIALLY SK500!

It's always hard to tell who won anything. Darryl mumbuls into his "Mr. Microphone" that he got for Christmas. Nobody except the people in the front row can hear. He always has a sad story about one of his friends. He really needs to get a announcer and just stand on the stage and shake hands. Would be really cool if he took photos of the winners and flashed them on a big screen as he gives the prizes so you could see the car. **** that will never happen, too much money. He's still trying to figure out how he can charge the fairground people who work there.

    Sorry we missed you Jake!
It was kind of interesting, the differences in the quality, style, and detail of the contenders for the big prize. I couldn't guess how they made a decision.
But the really cool thing about the winner that you guys would like, is that the car is driven the hell out of. Scott Whitaker (Dynamatt owner) even did a burnout in it before entering the building. He drove it from Ohio to Vegas for SEMA!
Gotta love it...a 15 year old car with road rash can actually win an award that prestigious. Gives us all some hope!

Thanks for posting some nice, clear shots of some decent cars that were there. Very much apprecaited.

  10. It's the least I could do. I wish some of my pics had turned out better.

Yeah, sorry I missed you guys.

I totally respect that he drives the car. That's what the car is for. All cars should be driven. I just don't consider that to be a "debut" car. I know, nothing in the rules says it has to be. Just never to have shown at Starbird before.

I do have to say congratulations to anyone who wins the 20K. I could only wish to win that. I am just looking at all of the former winners, the quality and type are all over the spectrum.

It was nice to meet ya Jake....we did win the judged Gold Delagance award which were were surprised and excited for, also received the KKOA pick very cool. I also thought the award was for a "fresh" car....we did have some fun and met some new cool people, I loved the Myers 39 sedan, I think thats the one of all I would like to drive.
We also did get pigeon **** on the trunk and it ate into the clear, looks like I will be repainting before Detroit, nice....

  12. Ugh! That ****s.

It was kool to meet you both. The car was *****IN!

he needs to purchase a PA system. i was in the band that played there, and they told us they were gonna have to use ours to do the awards. we all wanted to come back home to texas so we made the decision to just leave our PA there!! to hell with it. we were tired and ready to go. enough with the bird poop. what if a bird pooped on mr. starbird, or mr. starbird pooped on a bird? that'd be crazy. some of that poop landed no less that 3 inches away from our beer "backstage". good times

Jimbo is a ****............Our PA ****ed anyway maybe thats why you couldn't hear Darryl and why we abandoned it. I don't care what Darryl does because he's a freaking legend and I respect a legend unlike my younger friend. I would donate a pa every year for the great Darryl Starbird
........You are now called out for lack of respect Jimbo..........
Texas Cage Match at the Texas Thaw this weekend....Me vs. Jimbo

Gotta love that! The Merrodder was one of the first '50s cars to combine "custom" and "rod" and do it well; it was a privilege to see it and it sure as hell didn't show its age. The rule is "first time shown at Tulsa," so that's the deal. It won't happen, but theoretically, if a guy built a car, drove it for 15 years, and then showed it at Detroit, it would be Ridler-eligible.

Didn't get to meet Fritz, unfortunately, but loved the craftsmanship on the Outlaw replica. Completely blown away by the workmanship on most of the "Fine Nine" contenders; the C-Cab was the only one that fell short. I even liked the "T Town Touring" car - a completely handformed body without a ripple on it was worth many looks.

Guess I'm not "cool" enough to ***** about the show.

I thought the show was about the same as last year - and the year before that - and the year before that........

that said I still think this is a good indoor show........perhaps not for HAMB members but for the general public .....there are all kinds of different groups there - you got the low riders, the big trucks, the new PT Cruiser crowd, the tri five chevys, mustangs, muscle, and yes there are some traditional rods there........

there are over 1000 cars in there..........so that takes a while to look through.

my drama happened with about 1 hour before the show opened to the public.

They said my booth could not be where I had set up about noon on Thursday.

I did not mind moving back to my original location.........but waiting til 1100 am when the show starts at noon - that was a bit ridiculous when I had been set up all day on Thursday and the people in charge obviously saw me selling there on Thursday........
    ha

well - anyway - it was a cool show and it was great getting to see Myers, and Joe, and Toot, and Justin and Pushrod was great - I am really glad they are going to let me use their music on the next Vintage Torque DVD - not sure how many songs of theirs will be on there - but at least 3 cause I like a lot of them...........and after hearing them play them over and over and over this weekend........I think I have a few more that I like!
    ha

sorry about the crazy Shriner - perhaps the next time you see him you can say - oh your right I cant wear this cause I am not a shriner.........
then pull down your pants - wipe your **** - then give it to him.........

that will really freak the lil shriner out huh?

just make sure you do it by me so I can see it - that would be amazing!

I will try to post some pix as well

    later

so who will come and see me in KC this week?

Haven't been to a Starbird show since 1988, when one of my friend's 1963 Max Wedge Plymouth Fury won first place for "Best Truck" in Oklahoma City. And, twenty years later, it appears it's the same old stuff at his shows. The only ones pictured I like are that copper truck and the T-Bird. I won't give Starbird a penny.
