    I wasn't looking on purpose but I came across a 60 starliner, 292 Y block/ford-o-matic.

good solid driver, complete & rust free.

My weekend plans didn't include a day long road trip to buy a starliner... and a day long road trip back home.

but god, the 60 starliner is my holy grail of ford fullsized cars.

    should I?

  3. Buy it only if you love it cause a 60 Ford is a tough sell(!) Took me a year to get mine gone....KIRK!'s was hard to move(maybe cause it was high end?)...McPhail's is still for sale......just sayin'
They are way cool lookin' cars(to ME anyway)....unfortunately, not everybody thinks alike.

Don't buy it to sell. Buy it because you like it. I'd write the check and make it mine if I could. Those 60 Starliners are beautiful. Not sure why they aren't that popular.

  5. Those cars are one of my favorites. I'd be on it like a bum on a ham sandwhich.

As with any car purchase, you have to consider the asking price and the potential for resale.
If you love the car then the price can be high or the potential resale a pita, and it might still make sense to you.
I am not a big Ford guy but if the price was right I would step up...lets see now, FE, 2x4, 4-spd, buckets...

That car is 50 years old and in great shape.

You are a Paint Guy and while I like White cars from the practicality point of view. I would find another color that would accentuate the great body more than white.

If it is the original paint and you are a leave it original guy more power to you.

I don't know how much it will cost, but if it is not too bad I would move on it.

    :) :) :) Dick :) :) :)

Nice car, buy it! I went to auto tech school in upstate NY in the 60s, kid from Buffalo had a black one, built by Gerstner I think, 406, tripower, four speed. I had a 340 hp '62 vette, with 4:88s, 90/10 Hurst uplocks and a "shift as hard as you want but don't break your arm" shifter on the four speed. We waltzed around each other but never ran each other out on the "official" school quarter mile that was painted on the state highway west of town.

  11. big favorite of mine ! Hey's it a long weekend for most have some fun, and come home with that 60 Starliner !

    Not necessarily true
The last one I found (red on black rust free w FE) I turned onto a friend to buy.
He resold it the same day before he could even get it off the trailer for three times what he paid.

If the wife says ok, go for it. Oh yeah, paint it black, shiny black and lower it just a bit.

I want it bad, trying to reach the seller by phone again to set up a meeting time. Hoping monday would work for him. I would make a 16 hour road trip out of it, leave home at like ... 4AM or something.

I'm shaking like a nervous little dog...

well ok, maybe not. but I am excited still the same. lol!!
