  2. Glad you decided on it, great car. Lifes to short and you obviously have a soft spot for it. Keep us posted.

Not to rain on your parade but I'd check it pretty close for rust/ rust repair. I see the aluminum trim is missing behind the rear wheelwells, common area for rustouts, moisture would get behind the trim. 60's are like most Fords of that era, rust was/is always an issue even in the dryer climates. The missing trim tells me it's a repaint but the car looks real good in the pictures, if the rust issues arn't there I'd be on it in a heartbeat. 60/61 Starliners are way up on my want list, particularly 61 (I ran around in my buddy's 61 in high school0. I've have a 406 tri-power sitting in the shop for years waiting for the right Starliner to come along. Good luck, hope it works out for you. Curious, is it a y-block or FE?

Great looking car! Leave it white [assuming that the original colour] , fix the lower qtrs, clean it up, add favourite wheels and enjoy. Wish I could stumble into one like that.

the quarter trim is there guys, bad photo angle.

I've been on the phone with the guy again and we discussed the car in detail. He tells me he did some minor repair in the trunk floor but assures me the quarters, rockers, floors etc are solid.

the stailnless has some dings and the washboard 1/4 trim probably has a few bumps as well... here's another photo angle.

dent in the back bumper, the car comes with a set of bumpers, a bunch of glass, trim & other stuff from a parts car.

Well next to my impala i love 60 and 61 starliners. Depends on the price really. My buddy built a real nice 61, all on credit cards.....sad because he only got 10k for it when he sold it. I see them around here and there in my area.

If its the car you want and keep, then go for it

Chevys of that period get lots of attention but this style Ford was beautiful. I had a buddy in high school that had access to new Fords at that time. His dad was the general sales manager of the local Ford dealer. I remember one which was a high performance unit with I believe a 406 and three on the tree. Enjoy.

  17. Oooh, I'm dyyyinnn...(and slobber-drooling)! I'd trade my '55 Victoria for a '61 Starliner in a heartbeat, AND I've got a 390 with a factory aluminum 4v HiPo intake to drop on it! I guess I'll live vicariously through you on this one.

Looks like a keeper, can't beat a nice hardtop...............

  19. I'd probably find room for it if I had the chance to buy it (and they're usually long-term keepers with me, anyway). Love the suggestions of the FE motor, stick tranny, etc.

Very nice I would buy it. I have an extra correct horn ring if you buy the Starliner.

Looks great to me. Would look much much better in my driveway..........oh well. I'd buy it. My Dad had a white 4dr. 292 three speed. Was a very good car. Had it as a 2nd car for like 5-6 years and sold it to a High School kid that had it after college. Lots a young memories looking over the back seat in one of those.

Well, I'm stumped. I have the day off and should be headed down to get this car but I can't access funds, banks are all closed.

seller wants cash or a bank check, I'm certainly good for it but... no damn banks are open.

    Goddamn this is frustrating!!!

And after today, I don't know when is the next time it will work for both me & the seller. I work, he works, we are 6 hours apart... His next 2 weekends are booked, son of a bish!!

  26. People whine about having to drive out of state to buy a rust fre car. Do they know that two or three days of driving beats the hell out of two or three years of fixing rust? HELL YES, jump on that car a pro wrestler. Even if you make the drive, and it's not what they said it was, put it in perspective. I've lost plenty of time and money on cars, it's a chance we take on every old car we buy.

I just got off the phone with the guy, we're going to do the deal this week one day after work.

Was going to go with the wife today and just drive it back home but I'll take the trailer down maybe mid week or so & haul it home instead.

  30. BUY IT AND DRIVE IT. Every car can tell you what it wants to be! This one says " forget paint and all the looks stuff, get me the biggest set of tires that will fit under the wheel wells, and the biggest set of shocks you can find and get me on the road! Looks like it would have in 64-65 when the high school kid got it. GOOD LUCK! WISH I HAD FOUND IT!
