I like the theme of the lights but they could use stainless trim or a stainless barrel over that center rod.

Another idea for the taillights would be to install three knobs (same as the grille) in each lense.

    Killer car.

saw the taillights in person today.

to be honest-- take them off. they look cheap-- on a car that looks like a million dollars. i like the general shape, but the quality they are built just doesnt work.

Damn that thing is coming together perfect! I love it! The pinstripe was an excellent addition.

    Kirk!
Lose them...thanks for inviting*****s like us to comment on such a GREAT ride, but they take away from the rest of the car. I do not have the solution, but I personally LOVE the flat red lenses.....they make everything else the focus of attention. I agree with others who have posted...makes you******IN ride look cheap!

I think if the paint wasn't so fabulous, the tail lights would work, but they do look like a pine tree air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror at a car show. I'd try the Dichrome route, or at least see what he can come up with. This car has so much time in it, it's sort of 'the red eye special'. I don't know if it can be done, but having some white eyeballs about the size of a quarter bulging out of the center of the lens with 'red eye' and the center of it is a deep blue glass that will become a blue dot would look pretty sweet. (Think of the eyeball as a olive with the blue being the pimento.)

those taillights are neat on their own, but seem to clash with the rest of the car...your car is really smooooth, and those taillights really detract..they would be spot-on if they had fins that went with the shape of the lens itself...they go against it instead...if the lenses were rectangular shaped, the fins would be perfect. to see hard straight lines on such a swooping car really kills it. if I were walking around the car, when I got to the taillights, I'd say that they killed it. funky is neat, but your car is far from funky. ask anyone involved with design and they'd say lose those lenses.

You asked for an opinion on the tail light lenses from us for an "out" on em' , 'cause deep down you don't like 'em . Your bent about it because they were given to you for free from such an awesome person , and you don't want any hurt feelings , life*****s get over it ! I say sink 'em in about an inch or more .

Actually I am truly 50/50 on them. I really dig them, but my gut tells me they are busy.

I'll bolt the stockers on and look at them.

I appreciate the input from everyone. Unfortunately the input is also about 50/50.

Kirk your car is outstanding and I rarely suggest others should change things on THEIR car but you have asked so ...... I feel they arent in keeping with the "smoothness" of the rest of the build. They are sharp points on a canvas of senuous curves ... just my 2 cents. Thanks for posting and I cant wait to see it finished. Congrats to all involved, including the monkey :)

Did you see the KQQL custom Starliner at GOOD GUYS-PLEASANTON with the KQQL winged****** taillights? :D

  17. Maybe pinstripe close to the edge of the white parts of the new inserts with ? color. Red, blue or silver? Just enough to make them blend in a little with the theme. Or little chrome dots like the grill. They look killer at night! That is one killer kustom. Please bring it to Colorado so we can see it also.

Hell, just make up about 7 different sets of different lights and change em out depending on what time of the month it is and how your mood is when you wake up in the morning. You can operate a screwdriver.

    Kirk,
"May Cause Dangerous" is one of the best looking customs I have seen.

as for the taillights. we have 5 votes at our home and 3 say they kick**** and 2 said there bad****, but we love over the top stuff. i say run them for a bit and see how they grow on you. And who gives a***** what others think, what do you think, is the question.

    love the car!!!

Not feeling the tailights at all...sorry.

They just do not seem up to the level of the rest of the car to me.

The car is killer... the taillight need to be a bit more sleek, I think they project out too much. Maybe something a bit more under stated like this, because the design is cool...either way I will never have anything this cool great job!!!

i like lucky's idea but think its too little...split the difference on the center part and i think it will work...in other words the begining of the points taper setting flush with the 4 fins...good luck!!

With talent like this, I cannot believe that the Gambino Grime Family is not the most sought after paint shop in NorCal but, if for some reason they are not already on the map, this car will certainly put them there. Well Done!

P.S. I have no opinion on the tail lights. I can't stop looking at the paint job.

That is a fantastic job and the 60 has always been one of my favorites.
Run the tail lights at Plesanton the way you have them and see what the general reaction is. They are killer lit up but I can't decide about them sitting.
I don't think that there has ever been a car built that was so perfect that no one could not find at least one thing on it that they didn't like.

i'd lose the bullet anf go with 3 bars of the white or maybe 2 white and a blue in the center

  28. Can't say enough how beautiful the paint is on that car.

Rocky said Lee lenses, that's what came to mind for me as well.

Well done Kirk! And of course the crew at Gambino's.

    That's what I was thinking.

That or cut the end of the post off flush with the cross pieces, cut a ring (or a ring with a dimple in the middle) and paint the high spots with white or silver.

Other than that the car is Awesome. I wouldn't say anything about the atilights, but you did ask. The striping really added alot, wasn't sure till I saw the pic.

The tail lights look like they were made with leftover pieces of lexan . They in no way reflect the amount of thought, care, integrity or talent that went into that incredible*****ing paint job . No way ...............
