It is running the stock 1950 Hydramatic. I modified a Gennie shifter to make it floor shift.

That is really about the only place that the generator would fit. I had it and figured that I would monkey around with it and see what I got. Originally they mounted off the exhaust manifold. It was hanging WAY out there. I might built a hood too at some point in the future and I wanted it under that. The bracket is still a little off to me, but I think with some shaping it will work out.

I could not wait any longer myself. :D

I have been playing with tail light and licence plate locations the last few weeks. I want to stay with the 1928 only drum style lamp and did not want to cut into the body. I used the original taillight stands and flipped them side to side. I also had to raise them up for the licence plate clearance. In the side view the center of the lamp is at the peak of the wheel well. (I wanted to get them up so that they are visable to the future tailgaters also.) The lights are centered on the rear body seams as well. I can turn them over also so that the light is closer to the tank and the licence plate is up. I will leave it like this for a few days and keep looking at it and see if it grows on me or gets on my nerves. I also mocked up my fog lamp as well.

We only go to the Scottsdale in Nov. The Hot Rod and resto show in Indy is next week, and we do that one. Less I have to go to the better:) I do like AZ in November though.

Great looking build Brock! Love the cam spreader bars (pure hotrod!) and the drum tail lites (not enough of them out there and they are the mark of a '28 for sure!). And she sounds GREAT with those pipes! Cool mill choice with a Caddy! Regards, Dave.

Thanks for the kind words Dave! I agree with about the drum lights, you almost never see them. The only one I remember see a picture of was on Chris's roadster. They cost more and you can't get them from Speedway, but I think they are worth it on a 28.

I was able to get some more garage time this weekend since the local swap meet was pretty small Saturday. I bought these killer Stewart Warner curved gl*** gauges from a friend years ago. I really like the stock Model A dash and did not want to get away from it. Also, with the big steering wheel you could not see the gauges well, if at all, when they were spread out horizontally (See picture with cardboard dash panel). I played with several designs and finally settled on this. Kind of a sun and planetary idea. The only thing is I will have to find the proper SW fuel gauge. The needle and bezel are sooo wrong, but it is better than nothing. If I ever find the matching tach (big $$$$) it will be mounted on the steering column.

This making progress stuff is kind of fun.

You are closing in on a perfect 50's hot rod and I would say your just about there. Love the early Caddy mills and yours sounds sweet.. Don't know your plans for the final look but I'd be temped to drive it pretty much the way you have it looking now and someday planning on pulling it apart for final detail and a 50's non metalic paint job. I'm thinking dark blue or a rich burgandy but it's yours and you haven't made any mistakes yet. Keep posting any progress.

Thank you Frank! It is going to definetely stay the way it is a for long time. You were correct in you color choices too. It would probably be a burgandy. (Long ways off though, don't worry) I am about 95% positive that this is an original paint body, so I don't want to mess with it. I am kind of torn with what I want to do with the frame and other parts that need paint, shiny or flat. They will be black for sure, but I will have to "age" them to match all of the other "recycled" stuff. Thanks again, "You are closing in on a perfect 50's hot rod and I would say your just about there." means a lot. It is nice to know that others think I am on track.
