Got a 350 chevy with turbo 350 in my 32 Ford coupe. Had the motor out last summer back in all was well. This summer the starter is grinding and feels like its not meshing.
It is a powermaster mini starter shimmed as it was before the motor came out all worked fine before and all last summer. OK bought another starter same style, no difference. measured both starters and they are the same inline bolt pattern with 9 teeth for a 168 flexplate, checked the spacing on the teeth gap is .045".
It looks like it is going into the flexplate too far, but both starters act the same.
Any ideas?? I plan on shimming the starter away from the flexplate next.
