What wire do you have to the neutral safety? I had a problem which sounds similar to yours and found I'd cocked up on the NSS wire which despite carrying 12v wouldn't crank the engine. But it had worked fine for a year or so, then started to give intermittent problems (which seemed to be heat related) and I'd also swapped starters twice in the interim. Haven't had a problem since though! Not sure of the required wire gauge; I harvested the correct purple wire from an 80's GM loom I had for scavenging from. I recall it being significantly heavier than the lightweight piece of junk I had used (!) and was a bit surprised at the gauge of it. Not sure where my head had been when I'd originally wired the NSS in - the car didn't have one fitted when I acquired it, but that's another matter!

  2. Hey Chris,
Thanks for the input. Funny you mentioned the NSS wire seeming to be too small gauge for the job. I noticed that as well. Again, this was a complete engine and transmission swap so I needed new everything!!! The NSS wiring was barely larger than dental floss. That 31Vicky mentioned. I had no clue that was a possibility. It just seems like it could solve this problem for good. Move that darn solenoid away from the engine. As always, my fingers are crossed
