   This is what I got......57'283 block and aluminum powerglide,old and new starters I have dont fit?Is there a plate or adapter?

   I think there were adapters made at one time. Pretty rare now. They were a plate that installed between the block and the 'Glide to use the early starter. Try Transdapt (sp) or maybe Kennedy Engineering. They have some weird adapters still available.
