Does anyone know what is the proper way to start a new rebuilt flathead. We were told that you start it dry, feel the head till it gets warm. All the new motors I ever started have water in them, an I prime the oil before starting. Thanks

I'd prime the oil and start it wet. Retorque the heads after the first heat cycle and again after a few more cycles.

I used a can of zppd with the oil for the first few oil changes. Let it run to warm temp with water, as mentioned, let cool down then torque. 45lb stock/35 aluminum heads.
