Last weekend I backed out my car for a quick wash before the local Friday night cruise. When I fired it up, my 22 month old son ran to the door and started jumping up and down saying, "Dady's car, Daddy's car!" I promplty installed his car seat and took him to the cruise - he was all smiles.

The car in question is not HAMB material ('67 Barracuda fastback) - but it is a V8 with dual exhaust as the only sound system. My point is more about his reaction to a fun old car than the year and style. If you didn't guess by my screen name, I am working on a chopped '50 Chevy - that's the car I really want my boys to remember riding in (my other son is 6 weeks old).

Now, Ben's best attempt at saying Barracuda comes out "Cudda." So, all he talks about lately is, "Daddy's Cudda car, I love Daddy's Cudda car."

    That's too cool!

Mom says when I was young I was at the grocery store with her and saw a can of V-8 juice, and said "V-8"...

But one of my very first early words (according to her) was "Volkswagen"...so, we're all glad for the way I turned out...

Teach them young. I wish I had a Dad like you when I was 22 months old...****s having to figure all this stuff out on your own.

My girlfriends son who is 4 is into cars now as well. I told him we'd build him a pedal car / go-cart thing. Now he's picked out the colors, wheels, and won't stop asking to go work on it. We looked at a lot of pictures and he's decided he wants one that looks like a early '60s sprint car... now to see if I have the skills to pull this off.

And her daughter keeps reminding me how much she misses my GTO that I sold.
