Well i just picked up my 56 Ford cab today after trading a 52 ford sedan for it. Itll be my winter project after i put a taller door in my barn lol. Plans are to put it on an 83 F700 chassis with air ride. Swap out the 429 and 5 speed thats in it for an 8.3 cummins with an allison trans. Then try and find an aluminum of steel rollback bed with all the hydraulics. Thats the plan so lets see how it goes. Heres some pictures of the cab and front end sheet metal.
Well its been a long while since i started this tread but i think i many actually be starting this project soon. After extracting the f700 out of my brother yard, i got it over to my place and started gutting the camper part of it and tearing down the cab. Right now, its got a built 429 that hasn't been run in a while but got it to pop over with a little gas in the carb. I got some f600 fenders for the 56 cab last year but I'm still in search for some big job fenders. Im hoping they are big enough otherwise ill widen the f600 one and lengthen them a bit with some junkers. Plans are changing for the engine and trans but that won't be for a while. Ive been in search of some 2wd power stroke for trucks with either 5 or 6 speed manual transmissions. They're easy to mod and get some decent power out of. Wish me luck. Hope to get in running and driving over the summer with the gasser and a little bit of patching on the cab. The rest will come later.
