Hi, I Finally got my cylinder head back for my 194 Chevy last week. I bought everything new from a carburetor and distributor cap, wires etc. I hooked everything up but it does not start it just turns over. I don't know what's wrong I'm thinking it might be fuel pressure or points. What should I do or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
Since I don't know your skill level I will ask some basic questions. Are you getting any gas squirting from the accelerator pump? Are you getting spark at the plug wires? Did you get the valves set correctly? I assume you have the plug wires in the proper firing order.
Turn engine over so points are in closed position with cap off and key on reach in and open the points..should see spark...pull coil wire out of cap and place it next to something metal then open the points again by hand it should be a loud zap with nice orangey spark..if this works you should have spark..
I am getting a little gas from the pump, I am also getting spark from the wires and as far as I know I do have the valves set correctly.
Compression? Cranking vacuum? Did you change camshaft or timing gears? Did you set TDC for the ignition correctly on the compression stroke, not the exhaust stroke?
