@Ryan. Cool. It would look good in Dripping Springs, Texas. It's a hot rod and customs, lepers colony. South Texas. Thanks for the reply sir. Clean truck, and with a Mercury engine ! Nice. With that 6000 lb gross hauling sticker, I'll bet it has some great stories. How cool is that ?
Yeah all 93 of the cars we found had interesting histories... it has been fun digging through everything but also a HUGE amount of work sorting it all out. For this one we found the 2 newspaper articles from 1964 discussing where my father in law tried to outrun the cops in it. He was drunk. According to the newspaper he hit 80 through the middle of town at 1:30 am. I am not sure 80 is accurate for an old truck like this but who knows? Needless to say he didn't get away and got arrested. This was a year or two after he tried to outrun the cops in his '49 Merc... Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Gumout is your friend...I would spray that carb down thoroughly on the inside while it's running. You may clean it out.
Ok thanks. I rebuilt the carbs on a couple of the old Mercs before we sold them and they both had an accelerator pump that had a leather piston which was all deteriorated. I bet this one is the same. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yeah that is right. He really liked the old Ford truck's and it seems like he put the Merc flathead in almost every one of the 50's ones that we found. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
