My 49 Plymouth is mostly stock so I am going to go with Antique plates. About $100 one time cost and no annual inspection. I went today to a ***le / tag place and they looked at my car pics and suggested that I remove stickers (from previous owner) and paint the car one color. For me the car is still a work in progress with various patches of primer so I am going to even out the paint a bit, remove stickers, put hubcaps and trim back on and take my DMV pics. In other words make the car look as stock, as complete, and as in good condition as pics allow.

As much as people ***** about California, I think we have it pretty good for owning old cars. I think they are very old car friendly. As long as your paper work is in-line ther are no issues.

Got mine registered as an antique. no inspection needed and have to have registration renewed every 5 years. they put restrictions on it but I drive it all the time. Cops dont seem to care.
