Event Coverage State of the HAMB... & ME...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Ryan, Oct 3, 2016.

  1. M glad your better. When they tell you it's time to do physical therapy go and do it. Then keep doing it for the rest of your life. After two back surgeries I do my back exercises. Keep the weight off also. Make sure your shoes are good shape. Worn tennis shoes are not good.
    I'll shut up now!

    Dude never returned my call.

  5. I dunno, Ryan.......a 40 is pretty small for a 6 foot+ guy. My buddy, Tom use to let me drive his 41. He had an upholstery shop and even after "thinning" the seat back there wasn't much room for me and I'm only 5'8"...
Glad to hear you're making a come back.

For some dang reason I can't copy the link for you but you should buy the 41 pickup that was listed on the HAMB Sept 16, 2016 right now!

Email me if you can't find it.

Send it to VA if you don't like it.

Getting back to work can be like therapy. Closer to ''normal''. Take it easy!

image.jpg I know it's your decision, but please tell us YOU have every intention of making your truck flathead power! If not so,it's still o.k. But I feel the flathead can be made dependable enough by running a five speed and a nine inch Ford rear. Glad to hear your doing better. Flatheads Forever

  12. Look at it this way, most of the 40/41 Ford trucks that are drivers, regardless of condition are in the same price range, give or take a grand or two.

This one doesn't need anything except your name on the title, plus it reminds me of my pal Greg's truck.

I think I've seen everything listed on the HAMB, but???

Yeah, I drove a flathead powered '39 sedan every day of my life for three years. I'm not scared of driving a flathead regularly at all...

I love that one! Is that one for sale or?

This is a current look although he still has the wide whites and steelies, the truck has a flathead and a 5 speed.

I'll ask Greg if he is interested in selling the truck. HRP

Yeah man... don't tease me! I'm not the kind of guy that can afford to buy a truck that isn't for sale!

Man, that's a good one though... and the 5-speed would awesome on a daily.

It was actually my neck... and I'm doing pretty well. Here's the long form story of it all:

Seven years ago, I had a total disc replacement that cured a problem that I had been having since a racing accident when I was 18 years old.

@skullcracker did the surgery and he literally saved my life. I've been pain free until about 4 months ago when my left arm started to buzz as if someone was hitting my funny bone with a hammer. It was pretty excruciating. So, I went back to Dr. Dan and we did a bunch of tests and tried a bunch of non-surgical technics to fix it. Nothing worked...

So, Dr. Dan cut me open again and went at it... Turned out to be a little more complicated than anyone thought and the surgery took for fucking forever. When I woke up, I looked to my left and my wife was crying. I then looked to my right and saw Dr. Dan... looked like he had been crying too... I honestly thought I had died.

Turns out he was just exhausted from all the shit he had to do to fix me. I'm still really sore, but I have none of the symptoms I had before the surgery and my pain level is way down. From what I can tell, the surgery was an overwhelming success...

You know those guys that build cars that just blow you away? Where the craftsmanship is just unthinkable and the talent level is crazy obvious? That's what Dr. Dan is... only he does it with brains and spines. I mean, my entire neck is now artificial and completely fabricated by Dr. Dan. How crazy is that shit?

Sounds kind of like replacing the cam shaft while the motor is running........

It's good that there are talented people willing and able to do such things. The problem is there are just not enough of them out there . Glad to hear you are on the mend Ryan.

Awfully young to have such major surgery. I sure hope as you become an old man, like most of us, that this doesn't cause you pain and lack of motion.
Glad to hear your doing great Ryan. No leads on a pickup here.
What are your plans for the 38?

You regular folks have cervical discs to support your spine. They suck and tend to wear out, slip, rupture, and do all kinds of bad shit. So, I got rid of all mine and got these:

Made of titanium... they don't slip. The don't rupture, and they last for 40 to 50 years. Hell, I'm in better shape now than most 40 year olds.

As for the 38, I'll do a build thread for sure.

  28. Damn ! Where did they ziptie your torque tube/spinal column to ? They C-notch that stock looking piece or what ? That's amazing ! George Washington and his wooden teeth be damned ! Termites, and black mold bleh (humming on Martha's crotch) !! :)

Also --- very happy to hear your '38 is coming back to life. Somewhere in here is a Reher-Morrison burnout video <probably Beta tape> that brought me to this place many, many, many lurking moments ago. I've always loved that dynamo tire shredder. TAKE CARE SIR !!
