In building the Legacy '36, the tribute car to my dad, I want to stay connected to the car's past. Even though this chopped Ford Fordor is a 'restomod' / 'street rod' (hence the Off Topic posting), I am including some elements from the original car, including the OEM bakelite horn ****on incorporated into the Grant steering wheel. I like thinking about the possibility of the same horn ****on I impatiently use when the light turns green is the same ****on the original owner may have laid on to get home in time to listen to the 1936 Olympics on the radio, broadcast from host country Nazi Germany. Here are examples of a '36 wheel (NOT my car) and my wheel for comparison. I know this connection to the original car is impotant to the other forums (Traditional Customs and Traditional Hot Rods), but how about you other Off Topic, Restomodders, Street Rodders; does this aspect matter to you?
Thanks, glad you like. I have to give credit where credit is due; the majority of the work you see (and it IS top notch work) is the work of the crew at Platinum Custom Cars, Manteno, IL. Due to time constraints and limited facilities and fabrication skills, I rely on shop owner Mike Dumas, his son Max and the rest of the guys to translate my ideas into reality, applying them to the Legacy '36 project, resulting in a car that reflects exactly what I was after. They have a Facebook page, check it out when you get the chance.
