So… I am thinking of going to disc brakes. With that my Mercury would need a ford bolt pattern wheel. Unless I wanted to do a bunch of machine work to change patterns etc… I don’t. Any recommendations, on a cheap steel wheel that isn’t complete garbage and will accept a 55 mercury hubcap. 15” ?? thanks
Are you talking about a full wheel cover or dog dish caps? Looking at your pictures from a previous post it looks like you are running full wheel covers. If so, Chevy pickups used 5 on 5 bolt circle 15 inch steel wheels with disc brakes for several years. I would think these would be relatively cheap and easy to find.
On my '54 Ford Police Car, a previous owner had changed the original 15" wheels for wider 15" wheels off of a 1990's or early 2000's Ford Crown Victoria. That prior owner had also installed disc brakes on all four wheels so discs will work with the Crown Victoria wheels. I decided to keep the wider wheels on the car when I switched back to original drum brakes when I restored the car. Some of these Crown Victorias can probably still be found in wrecking yards.
I agree with Alan. I have early 2000's Ford Ranger wheels on mine which are 15". The center hub opening is also a larger diameter than the original steel wheels.
Perfect! Suppose I’ll be hitting the junkyard for crown Vic or Ranger wheels. yes they’re full covers and that’s what is on it now is 5 on 5 Chevy truck wheels. But wanting full covers on 5 on 4.5 pattern
If there are any Crown Vic’s with right side lower a-arms left you might want to get them. There a value in them for dirt track racers using 2 Gen Camaros.
I have stock Ford wheels on my wagon with Granada discs. The only issue was the outer hub/pilot had to be turned down to clear the wheel.
