I have checked a few of the Motorcycle sites and seems that glass works but only for a year. The prefered method is to use "superwool". Near as I can figure it's a ceramic fiber. McMaster has some Flexible Silica PN 93435k16 @ $14. Spec says good to 2000F. I am putting that in mine. No run data yet.

Yes, probably. I bought a couple of VW stinger baffles. Cut about 5" off rewraped the fiberglass matting and plugged them in. It did quietendown. No tickets so far.

Thats exactly what we did back when I was a kid (60s) When we got a ticket for too loud a exhaust, we had to take the car in to the cop shop in a couple days to prove it was fixed. About 2 blocks from the cop shop, we would pull over, stuff the "mufflers" full of steel wool, stop and get their o.k., and before long they would be right back where WE liked them. :)

Got a ticket when I was a kid,for too loud pipes and no mirrors on my honda 50, so I stuffed steel wool in the pipe but, I had to ride about 5 miles to the local cop shop. While I was showing the copper and reving the motor up the steel wool started to come out the pipe. The cop wasn`t real pleased and sent me home.I took the muffler off my dad`s yamaha trail bike and when back and passed.

As a kid I had a small motorcycle that I used to deliver newspapers, put a Mac racing pipe on it with a extremely similar baffle and all my customers instantly pitched a fit about it riding around the neighborhood at 5am.

Went in the attic and cut myself a sheet of owens-corning about an inch thick that would wrap around the baffle core 2-3 times. Held in place with a couple wraps of straightened out coat hanger to hold it against the core. Quieted it down a ton.

    Would never hurt to try.
